Mapia Takes Home the Trophy of olymPPic 2010

It was a cold rainy day on Saturday, 13 March 2010. But it did not stop MAPIA supporters of PSB Academy from supporting MAPIA sports team. The event was the semi-final round of Olymppic 2010, a sports event organized by Indonesian Students Association in Singapore (PPIS), and held at Republic Polytechnic (RP) Sports Complex. The supporters were wearing red or white shirts to show their encouragement. Some of them were even carrying banners. Together with the players, they travelled to RP by buses provided by PSB Academy, which departed at 9.00 am sharp.

The competition was nerve-wrecking! The supporters shouted as loud as they could to encourage the players. MAPIA's badminton team did us proud by winning 2 golds and 1 silver. It was not so lucky for our basketball and the two street soccer teams. They were beaten by SIM, SMU and NTU, respectively.

The closing ceremony was very entertaining. There were performances by student groups from the various universities and institutions in Singapore. And, of course, our MAPIA Saman Dance wowed the crowd with their impressive performance. When the Olymppic's President, Adrian Yusuf, went on stage to announce the results of the Olymppic 2010, all the supporters and the players became very nervous. MAPIA-ers (the term for the members of MAPIA) prayed very hard and crossed their fingers, hoping that the trophy would come back in their hands this year……and yes, MAPIA was pronounced THE CHAMPION again!!!

It was such a memorable event. The camaraderie among the supporters and players could be felt deeply. Thank you players, for all the hard work and time spent in your practice. You have done MAPIA proud. And thank you supporters for being there. Hopefully, we can be the champion again in Olymppic 2011!
